I use nontoxic
acrylic paints that are washable and drycleanable. Unless a manufacturer
says "dry clean only" or I advise hand-washing for things like
elegant fringed stoles, most of my wearable art is machine washable. I
test fabrics initially and make certain that my hangtags contain relevant
information for the care of the garment and life of the design.
Each piece of wearable
art is individually painted, and although I will repeat designs, each will
be different from the others. Garments include T-shirts, sweatshirts, a
variety of denim items (including men’s shirts), long dresses, beach
cover-ups, scarves, wraps, or stoles (some of which I myself design and
make), jacket or blazer, blouses and shirts, and pant sets. Textiles on which I paint
include cotton and cotton blends, polyester and a polyester blend called
"moleskin" (soft, suede look), rayon, denim, velvet, crepe,
matte jersey, and linen. Custom orders are welcome—if you wish, you can
even provide the garment itself!
My "hangable"
art includes thematic acrylic paintings (Greek tragedy, post-modern
literature, Revelation, classical mythology, seasonal landscapes, flowers,
and the fanciful or whimsical) as well as limited edition prints—digital
replication of flower settings (to 1000) as well as a number of thematic
paintings (signed and numbered to 200; 1-51 are artist’s proofs).
